La conche des baleines is a very large sandy beach located in the town of Saint-Clément-des-Baleines. A few years ago there were still blockhouses, military defensive works built by the German army during the last war. Facing the Atlantic, this long tongue of sand where these fortified concrete structures still existed served as a cinematographic setting for the film "The Longest Day".
